Why This movie wont be made.

This movie will not be made for SO many reasons. If you polled 100 children under the age of 14, how many of them would actually know who Pee wee is? The show is not on TV anymore. You some times catch the movies on cable, but most kids would rather watch something else. When I tried to get my sister to watch it when she was younger, she was totally uninterested. And it's not just my sister. There is a whole generation of kids out there who have no idea about this show, or what it meant for popular culture back in the day. The hardest part about selling this movie, is convincing studio heads that anybody who wasn't around when the show was first aired is going to pay $10 to see it.

Dude you are so far out of the loop you need to get a flight back to reality. stop watching Survivor and american idol and start watching Scripted Television. You just have NO Clue what is even Good Or is Going to Sell.

i know a BUNCH of kids who had never heard of Alvin and the Chipmunks but they all really wanted to see the movie about them that just came out

reply

LOL, thats crazy. I don't really want to see the new movie... it's just not the Alvin and the Chipmunks I remember.

This movie WILL be made! Another person on this board (bktex15) said that their roommate claimed to have worked on the screen tests for the movie. If the roommate was telling the truth, then obviously this movie is going to happen!

I'm almost 19 now, so I never saw Pee Wee on TV. But my parents knew it would be a good move to make a vhs tape of episodes for my siblings and me. So that's how I know the show.

Anyhow, I work at a movie theater and we were talking about this movie. Most of us agreed that this movie will work because of its syndication on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim and because of the old controversy involving Paul Reubens (Pee Wee) and the X-Rated theater. People will be intrigued to see what subliminal humor they will catch. Those who won't catch it will probably be the little kids who will definitely be going to see the movie. Kids flooded the theaters for Alvin and the Chipmunks, TMNT, Transformers, Spiderman series, and even The Simpsons. Just because Pee Wee no longer seems like a guy for children doesn't mean that movie trailers of a brightly-colored playhouse with talking furniture won't appeal to children who have never heard of Pee Wee before. This movie will work - just as most of the other 80s-shows-to-movies have worked.

You are forgetting that as soon as something is released into the media, no matter how dated one from the original generation thinks it is, it immediately becomes a part of pop culture again. How many kids today have ever watched an episode of Alvin and the Chipmunks? And yet, it's doing incredibly well in theatres right now. Kids never care about something that there parents or siblings try to show them, but put it in the movie theatres or on daytime TV and suddenly they're all over it. I guarantee, if the movie gets shelved, it won't be for that reason

I will see it! Paul rocks!

14 year old here, and I'm SO gonna see this movie. I really hope it gets made, I miss Pee-Wee! I remember watching the re-runs and loving it! I bought all the DVDs and the movies so I just can't wait for the next movie!

And seriously, Pee-Wee is getting more popular. I went to about 5 novelty stores and they had shelves of Pee-Wee toys. I bought some of them lol guilty as charged.

I'm 22, have been watching PeeWee since birth. I showed my kid sister (10) PeeWee's big adventure. She's probably watched it more times in a few short years than I have my whole life.

Pee Wee Herman's stand up act was NOT for children! I never understood why they made a Saturday morning tv show out of it with all the crude jokes and everything. Of course I watched it, I loved the show!
I can only hope the movie comes out soon and I'll be first in line to see it!

I'm 14, and I've loiked Pee Wee since I was little,
because of the fact that I have a brother that's 10 years older than me.
Younger people could possibly know him from older siblings. . .

I first saw Pee Wee's Big Adventure in 1988, when i was four years old, and i have loved it ever since. I still watch that film now, and i would watch the new one if it does get made too. Pee Wee's Big Adventure is suitable for people of all ages. As others have said, it's a cult classic. I think it's a good idea that people show it to their children now too.

I saw Big Top Pee Wee and Pee Wee's Playhouse too, but i didn't like them as much. I've never seen The Pee Wee Herman Show, but i would like to. I hope the new film will be similar to Pee Wee's Big Adventure .

Oh I bet this movie IF MADE (which I think it might be), is going to be either Rated PG-13 or R, which means a lot of young kids won't be able to see it, so that settles that. Something tells me that instead of destroying him, the masturbation allegations, changed his career focus. I think he is going to be raunchier. I'm not so sure Pee-Wee Herman will be welcomed back as a children's entertainer.
