S1 Ep 37 - Alex's father visits Paul's office to talk about his son's death

Since the new In Treatment came out I too some time to look back at the previous version of In Treatment with Gabriel Byrne. This episode is particularly powerful in its writing, direction and acting.

Typically I hammer on how most movies and TV hinge on the writer, the writing, and that is certainly true here, but what made such an impression to me in this episode was the acting of Glynn Turman who played Alex Prince, Sr.. That was amazing work to bring a character alive with so much depth and humanity in the middle of a series in 2 episode.

I guess I watched this before when I saw it the first time, but to see it again anew was very impressive. This is an excellent episode that dramatically and thematically stands on its own due in large part to the acting Glynn Turman. Wow.
