Series 2
In the middle of series 2 and don't understand why it didn't/doesn't feature in the EMMYS. I think the episodes with Paul and Walter, the CEO are superb. John Mahoney is such a wonderful actor and, of course, Gabriel is his equal.

shareI loved the series, but it becomes repetitious and tedious at times. A little of it can go a long way.
For me at least, it also induces a kind of amnesia a few weeks after viewing it that might also have dulled the memory for Emmy voters. I can barely remember the characters from seasons 1 and 2, much less their plotlines. I don't know why that is, except that storylines are complex and often very subtle. Pivotal plot points often rest on how something is said, not what is said. That's part of what drew me to the series, but I have a much better memory for words rather than subtle expressions. Many characters have similar issues and blend together after awhile. I don't have that problem with other Emmy-level drama series.
Bryne is an excellent actor, but a therapist by definition is very passive except at strategic points. After a couple of episodes there's nothing new acting-wise. Often the best parts are the short scenes some episodes have before and after the central therapy session. Ultimately, I guess I'd rather see Weston's clients actually living their lives rather than describing them to a therapist.
