How was this show aired?

I just started watching this show on DVD and thought the format was incredibly interesting but I wondered how they aired it. There are about 35 thirty minute episodes in season 1 alone. Did they run the five sessions/week on the same night or what?

For season one they aired one episode per night Monday through Friday, I believe. It's been a while but that's how I remember it. HBO also put all five of that week's episodes On Demand starting on Monday so you could've watched them all at once.
