Adele and her segments seem pointless.
Paul's attraction to her and his acting on it seems out of character and far fetched.

shareI think they're key to understanding Paul, to letting him express what he's feeling about his other patients, and to showing who he is at his core. I don't see what is far fetched about them. I also think Byrne and Ryan are absolutely electric together, and to be honest I wanted more. Can't believe it's over.

You do not get it, so you should be less critical.
Classically in order to accept the therapist, one has to have some
kind of attraction or "love" to feeling that they are there to help
you to give to you, transference. You see Paul really resent and
put down Adele in the first meeting, but then Paul is redeemed
in our eyes because he is smart enough and humble enough to
at least realize that he does not know everything and that Adele
can see and is a source of help.
I've only seen 6 episodes of the 3rd season so far, but I really
like it a lot. It seems less entertaining and more edgy and
realistic, revealing the heart of people to the audience, and Paul
as well.
I have to say I think this is one of the best programs I have ever
seen on TV.
