A great movie

I really enjoyed watching The Spirit, and I was shocked to see that it received such negative reaction from the general public. I guess everyone expected Sin City part 2 or some regular action superhero movie, but this movie is closer to Repo Man than Iron Man.
It is, as it was planed to be, a quirky, weird, stylish comedy-action movie, a bit too weird at moment or hard to follow, but that's just Frank Miller's style. Try reading his Elektra and you'll see what I mean.

I just loved it and I guess that most people didn't because.. they're just too stupid.

And no, I'm not trolling.

My jaw hit the floor at the low rating as well. I really enjoy this film.

But I'm assuming that it's a bit too oddball for the general public... and then the nerdy comic community is apparently unhappy with the lack of faith to the source material. ...But as a movie lover and casual comic book geek who'd never heard of The Spirit before this film, I enjoyed the hell out of it.

Agree 100% with this.

And i actually expected it to stink, based on what Miller did with the
ROBOCOP sequels. I was stunned by just how much i enjoyed THE SPIRIT.

Agreed!

This was recommended to me as part of a list of crime/noir films and I didn't know anything about the negative reception and I too enjoyed it immensely. The Spirit is not up there with the lauded classics but neither is it down there amongst Plan 9 From Outer Space or Catwoman.

I really enjoyed it also.
