Ellen Dolan

Not familiar with this character outside of the movie, so can someone who has read the comics tell me if the character of Ellen is less of a doormat in them?

Don't get me wrong...I loved her in the film. Her as a "person"; probably because Sarah Paulson does such a fantastic job portraying her. However, as pertains to the Spirit character, I found it beyond annoying that she continues to moon over him when he, as she says, falls in love with every woman in the room. In more than one scene, he is actively flirting (or making out) with other women, and she still wants him?!

She's gorgeous, smart, witty, charming. Does she not have any other available men in the comics, or has she set herself up to be The Spirit's groupie/president of his adoration club?

And is she supposed to be the one he truly loves? Because I got all sorts of vibes on that count. Everything from "Ellen is his true love" to "he loves all of them" to "Sand was the love of his life."

The story is all about The Spirit so we're only going to see his love life.

One of the plot points like Ellen said, was that the Spirit loves all women and he means what he says to all of them. So he truly does love Ellen, but when he's with Sand, he loves Sand and so on. I guess it's a "curse" of his and every other woman.

Ellen was a bit of a doormat but she really did love him and it was one of those situations where you try to change a bad boy but never can.

I liked her, she was the only innocent character in the whole movie.
