Anna and the room
Was Anna in the room all that time? Or did time stand still in the room? And what did she mean about "the bad man" in there, who was he?

shareI think Anna was stuck in some sort of limbo where time just stood still, bringing her back pulled her out of where she was and into the room, it's like the room was some sort of gateway.
I think the 'Bad Man' Anna was referring to was The Weasel because he kidnapped her from the hospital, then took her to the warehouse where she then got shut in the room.

I could tell you. Then I'd have to kill you.
Many elements of this story were deliberately left unexplained or undeveloped. Had there been a TV series we might have had these questions definitively answered.
shareMy theory is that the event cause the room and contents to be removed from normal linked space-time. Every time you open it with the key you access a snapshot of the 'now' of the room which is disconnected from all the other snapshots. This is a bit like having movie film and cutting out each frame so that they are no longer connected. Anything that doesn't belong in the room, including Anna, remains in the 'now' snapshot of the room when the door is closed with the key outside of the room. When the room is opened again it's opened to a new snapshot.
I think the original idea that the clock could be used to get Anna out was correct but they didn't know how to do it. If they had set the clock to the same time as when Anna opened the room then re-opened it with the key, they would have opened her snapshot and could retrieve her.
I think the alternate universe theory works.
I think Anna was teleported back to Eddie's original universe, where the Motel had 10 rooms not 9 like in our universe. Now, time doesn't work the same so I think to Anna, no time really passed, which is why she was worried about "the Weasel".
I think it could be timing too.
Remember Eddie said he was just like any other object, except he had a will. I think every time a object is sent back, had Anna touched the object before the key was used again, she would have been brought back but Anna never thought to touch an object from the room at the same time at the door was opened with the key.
But since Joe was an object "with a will" he was able to go to where things reset (I believe an alternate universe) and grabbed hold of Anna so when the key was used, she returned with Joe the object like other objects do.
