70's
yes I know this movie is contemporary but some reason it has a very 70's feel to it, maybe its the music or some of the cloths

shareI see what you mean, it's the clothes.
surrender is death, and death is for pussies - Kenny Powers
Definitely the music
shareYes, it’s the music and some of the clothing (most of what Seth wears is for sure not modern). But mainly the music! I kinda feel like the vibe of the movie also feels a bit 70’s. And I think while it certainly looks like a modern movie, something about Superbad’s yellow tint makes me think retro. Nah, it’s definitely modern looking all the way, so… never mind, lol.
But yeah, it’s possible they intended the movie to have a bit of a 70’s feel . And I mean, a 70’s funk soundtrack over a 70’s rock soundtrack in a 2000’s teen comedy like this? Kinda refreshing
What's always confused me about Superbad is, it has a combination of a 70's feel, a late 90's feel, and 2007 feel all in one.
shareIt's the color scheme.
shareProbably the music and the overall feeling of the movie.
shareThey try very hard to get that feeling across, to it's detriment. If they didn't use cell phones, you'd never think this was a contemporary movie.
