I'm half Turkish and my (rather large) Turkish family and I agree. What was a little hard to listen to was all the bad Turkish being spoken - either hire a dialogue/language coach or Turkish actors!

Well, I understand the Turkish complaint to certain point. Having Dracula kill Mehmed II is like having Robert E Lee kill Abraham Lincoln. The story is too well known to change it. Had I written the script, I would never have deviated so much from the historical narrative. Instead, I might have gone the route of Robert Zemeckis' Beowulf or the gospel of St. John and emphasized that historical records are never complete. You can save Dracula and Mehmed II that way, and it would have left a role open for Mehmed in future films.

For your information I am a Turk & we are not offended by the invasion. We are offended by the lies depicted in these type of movies. Do you think all the empires throughout history were gifted their land? ie Roman Empire, Byzantium etc First & foremost, Vlad defeats & kills Mehmed the II, when in actual fact, according to history, his own people or the Ottomans killed him. He is seen as some hero & the Ottomans as evil. How is something as satanic as a murderous vampire who indiscriminately impaled thousands of his own people, men, women, children & even animals, be such!!? The lies continue in the additional features in the movies Blu ray & DVD release. In the making, they state, "Vlad was more of a son that the Sultan wanted, even though Vlad was adopted." "Even when they were growing up, Mehmed could see that the Sultan favoured Vlad over himself." "If Mehmed the II could have handed over his throne, he would have given it to Vlad, because he had all the signs of being a great leader, which Mehmed on the other hand, was not that leader." "Vlad the impaler learnt this method of Impaling from the Turks" No where do they state that all this information is fictitious - fabricated lies!!!!!!!!! So that future generations can be brainwashed into thinking that this is actual what transpired. Secondly, the banning of the Kurdish language in 1991 took place prior to Erdogan's reign. This has no place in Islam. You cannot compare the actions of a Republic country with an Islamic Empire. But are you also aware that PKK Kurdish rebels have killed tens & thousands of citizens within the past few years? And let me tell you something about the Christian Crusaders. The Christian Crusaders travelled to the holy land and killed all the muslim men women & children - unarmed civilians. According to historians the blood of the muslims was such that the christians were ankle high in their blood with hundreds & thousands slaughtered. They even murdered other Christians that crossed their path on their noble voyage. Lets have a look at the lustrious work of Christian forces throughout history:

• or the 200 thousand in Syria
• 3000 in Egypt

• Who started the first world war where about 17 million died? Muslims ?

• Who killed more than 100 million Indians in North America? Muslims?

The best thing about is that modern Turkish natio has probably less Ottoman genetics than Balkan nations Ottomans opressed and had law of first night. Ottomas were Turcik (asian, mongoloid) like Kazakhs. Modern Turkish nation is mixed with all the people they took from their nations. You have Balkan nations with slightly asian eyes and "Turks" with blonde hair and green eyes.
