Worth watching the US remake?

I just finished watching Forbrydelsen season 1 and loved it and not just for the jumpers :)
So is the remake worth seeing or is the storyline too similar to be worthwhile? Or perhaps I should just wait for BBC to repeat Forbrydelsen series 2 first and come to the remake in a year or so when my memory has faded....

I watched an interview with Sofie and the producer last night. The producer seemed quite approving of the remake and found it respectful towards the original. She did say the political angle was quite different, as domestic politics have very different concerns in the US and Denmark.

Yes, the remake is definitely worth seeing. And not just for (similar) jumpers either.

No!

Yes, it's worth watching, though it tries to pile too much story into the one-day, one-episode format and it overheats under the pressure, like a person being shot and paralyzed one day, then being up and riding happily around in a wheelchair three days later after the shooting.

KISS is the best philosophy here, unless you want to look silly, and that aspect of the show was silly. That said, it was still quite good, especially due to the leads -- the two detectives, the parents of the victim, and the female detective's son.

hell no

There is another reality...NEVERWHERE

reply

Absolutely YES!

Normally, I despise US re-makes on principle (they are based on the assumption that American audiences are too stupid, or too lazy to read subtitles. An assumption that is obviously ridiculous).

But this re-make is really first class. It's dark, moody and atmospheric and has some fine acting. Just like the original.
