Do I have to watch season 1 first??? PLZ help

I tried looking for series one online but couldn't find it
I found series 2 ,,, do I have to watch 1 in order to understand 2 or I could just watch 2 without watching 1

yes for a bit of background, but the second series is fairly self-contained

It's the best season, definitely star with the first

Just buy the DVD for season 1...im sure you can get it quite cheap now

Watch them in order. Characters are important, and you would want to know why they are what they are.

I also don't see the point in watching this show if you are not going to watch the best season...i have just watched the first episode of the second series and got very bored of it. I know i should give it more of a chance but i dont think i will. They killed off the best character at the end of the first season(BIG BIG BIG MISTAKE) and the show feels very empty without him.The Americans did not make that mistake.
