Why is it always November?
Each season is a different year (of course) and a different crime, but it's always set in November. Why is that?

It's probably to get the "Scandinavian noir"-feeling, i.e. setting the mood. It's cold, it's raining a lot, the sky is always grey, it's dark and depressing. The winter months i Scandinavia can often be like this. However, summer can be really nice and warm. Copenhagen, where the story takes place, is usually a very nice and pleasant place during summer, and the weather can be really warm and sunny. Try to imagine "Forbrydelsen" taking place in the summertime, with blue skies and lots of sun. Would that have been as effective? :D
shareAgreed. Part of the allure of Scandinavian crime dramas is the atmospheric setting. The murder mysteries are just so much more bone-chilling and foreboding when they take place during cold, winter months.
That's probably why the US version also made its version take place in the Pacific northwest, where it's also cold, rainy and often bleak during the winter. I live in the northeast (US) and we just had record snowfall this year. I would kill to have a season of The Killing take place here!
