How could 'Black Hat' survive in sunlight? *minor spoiler*

Ok, was that ever explained? Why could "Black Hat" as a vampire survive in full sunlight? And was he killed by the explosion or not? Did they leave that open for a sequel?

He said he was "a human vampire" so I guess he could. The problem with this film was it felt so pedestrian ; the plot was so straight forward with little character development (which is ironic, because the director's previous film with Bentany, Legion had too much of it) that there was next to no qustioning of the more convenient momments.

I just went along with the theory that he just became a "glorified familiar".
Retained all his strengths from his "Priesthood" and became fully tainted with vampiric rage.

I saw him as some kind of Daywalker. All the vamp perks with no actual weakness. You never see him die, you just see him burn and his hat flapping around. Maybe he'll return as No Hat in a sequel.

If a sequel ever does get green-lit.
Seeing as how many are trampling all over this, that's kind of a shot in the dark.

reply

True, set up for the sequel

As another poster has said he was qualified as a human vampire, which presumably meant he had the benefits of each species.
