'This is a waste of time. There’s nothing here'

The film runs for what should have been a brief 80 minutes, but instead we get a film that feels like it goes on for far too long due to bad pacing and lack of engaging material. Even when it finally gets around to what’s supposed to be a big, exciting final fight between good and evil, most will be checking their watches to see how much longer it’ll be until they see daylight again. Speaking of wanting to see daylight again, there is a piece of dialogue that’s spoken while the characters are roaming around in the dark vampire caverns that ironically ends up describing the film more so than their situation. After searching the caverns for a minute or two, Hicks says “This is a waste of time. There’s nothing here.” I couldn’t agree more. 1.5/4 stars.

So very true 3/10 and that's being kind.

Yes, this movie really is as bad as most are saying. I basically knew nothing about the plot except the basic premise and have to admit that I could not stop my eyes from rolling during the opening cartoon explanation scene. From there all I was hoping for was some good action and popcorn distraction. The movie really delivers very little of either. Besides the over-the-top and standard organized religion is awful B.S., the parameters they set up for their world make no sense and no one seems to follow those same idiotic parameters. The action is sub-standard (except maybe the Maggie Q motorcycle clash) and the CGI is beyond awful. Honestly, the CG blind vampires are extremely fake and quite lame. Worst of all, what promises to be a solid lead villain turns out to be a waste of film. I can’t believe they wasted Karl Urban. You would think that a script that tries to combine the plot of The Searchers with Blade would be cool at least in parts? You’d be wrong.

AMEN to that. This movie is the pure defintion of waste of time. No reward at all for ANYTHING.

i liked it, it remended me of a modern version of the Dante's inferno game. it was what it was suppose to be which is a good action flick in my opinion, but to each his own

Is that a video game? I guess this could be called a bad video game movie if that helps anyone.

Wow, I forgot how much I did not like this film.

For someone who hates this film so much, you sure do spend a hell of a lot of time on its threads posting... Me thinks the man doth protest too much (we all know you secretly love this movie and furiously masturbate over it)

As I watched the movie, I could see the writers of the graphic novel from which this mess sprang trying to cobble together something they could sell to pay the rent. “What if we mix the next two movies we see as we flip the channels?” They must have seen Blade and The Searchers. They combined the two concepts but stole none of the heart or fun of either film. Please tell me other people aren't actually considering paying to see this trash??? May means summer and stuff this bad should be dumped in non-summer months. Studios need to be taught a lesson and leave direct to DVD content like this out of the cinema. Not everything that's ever appeared in a graphic novel needs to be adapted because you feel a need to cash in on the comic book movie craze.

I'm so glad this thing is tanking badly.

I have to disagree with the part about the main villian. His acting, voice, and fight scene atop the train were all excellent. That part where the camera pans over the brim of his hat, so you see his eyes.
That was bloody cool.

But besides that, as you said: The movie was unrewarding. But what could have been changed to make it better?

Can Green Lantern save this film? Meaning, is GL so bad that Razzie will look away from Priest?

reply

Priest is a straight forward vampire action film. to think you went in with the expectation of it being moving poetry captured on film makes you look like a ridiculous mouth breathing tool.

I enjoyed it. Just watched it in 3D this past weekend. My only thought was "that was it?". It is very short. They could have easily added another 20-30 minutes and expanded the story or subplots a bit.
