Did they tell us how the Priests got their power?

They obviously are humans but with strength and speed to that of a vampire or at least greater. Did I miss a part in the movie where they tell us how they got their powers or am I suppose to assume they got it from God?

It wasn't explained, lots was inferred. They were each selected and so were possessed of talents before they were trained - the training was not explained at all.

There's quite a bit of back story that would have merited development in the film as the ideas were interesting.

I found the potential for making a universe here promising, and most of the visuals well done.

Figured the "vampires" were invading aliens, medical/genetic experiments (the priests too), or WWW3 mutants or something similar. Its kind of part of the story, I think, to not try explain it all.

Was disappointed in the end when all we got was goofy villains and cheap CGI though. Whatever could pass for story was really more 0-dimensional than even 1-dimensional. However, the universe could pass if put some more effort into it.

What villain kidnaps a nobody-daughter to attract attention of the only one able to stop him to his super-secret invading plans? That queen blood must contain silly genes..

Agree it had bags of potential. Not sure how I explain the vampires though I think WW3 occurred in the process of humans fighting off the vampires. The vampires were very well conceived.

Yes the human vampire was a weakness as it was not clear what he ate to survive and why he seemed to have the best of both species yet could be defeated by the priest who was only human. The queen seemed to me an interesting creature in herself. I guess her choice of priest was limited and the priest she turned was consumed by anger at being abandoned to die by the other priests. Realising his potential after he was converted, he wanted to either convert the remaining priest(esses) to his fate or kill them.

"he seemed to have the best of both species yet could be defeated by the priest who was only human." The priest didn't defeat him. He didn't even touch him except for hitting him with that cross from behind while Karl Urban wasn't looking. It was an exploding train that killed him while all those humans somehow survived jumping off that train unscathed.

Urban's character had three goals: to turn the priests to human vampires, turn the main priest's daughter and to conquer the cities. Methinks he failed in all of them and methinks that was because of the priest and priestess ... Winning was not pinned on strength alone and where Urban had superior strength he did not manage to kill the priest, or priestess.

Yeah, because Priest and Priestress got something called plot armour. Judging from the fights we saw it's like I said: They had no chance while Karl Urban won everything until he failed to jumo an explosion he saw miles away (literally). Plot Armour. He clearly won over priest when hi pinned him to the wall but didn't kill him because the movie would be over then - plot armour.

The villain taking the daughter - I believe to do with the personal grudge part, nothing more nothing less. What best way to get at the person who couldn't hold onto you before you were taken, your body shredded then turned than to kidnap the daughter, get his attention and try to turn them in the process (this was a bit, eh? but the more the merrier I suppose and being turned could probably be the ultimate insult/offence to a Priest/Priestess).

Hmm I think they had super human skills that was further trained/honed (I think mentioned in the film near the end of the cartoon sequence) in martial arts/close combat training and other kinds of training specifically for killing vampires. But there was suggestion that the Priest's gifts developed later in life - how that happens beats me, anyone read the comics/manga that can answer that?

There is also what occurred at the end, the explosion that consumed the human vampire... the priest couldn't beat him, that was obvious as he wasn't strong enough. He and the priestess were clever enough to think of blowing the train up and so that's what the priestess did - blowing the front part up caused the rest of the carriages to collide with the front carriage in the explosion and either rip them open or obliterate the remaining vamps in the carriages.
