Wow, this director really hates Christianity, doesn't he?
First that horrible, horrible movie Legion and now this what looks like, equally horrible movie?
I wouldn't even care if he actually made good movies.

Legion sucked and I'm sure this one will too but they really have nothing against Christianity. They're not making fun of the religion; that's not what science fiction does. These movies suck too much to hit a deep and personal level. If something offends you, you don't have to watch it.
shareI liked Legion but now that I think about it, the only thing I liked was the concept for the film and how the trailers and hype made me feel about it, and I have a feeling Priest is going to let me down as well...
Whoever keeps giving this guy these movies to ruin should be beaten, and I hope you're reading this Herr Director!
I'm not a religious person and am not offended by it. I am annoyed by people trying to force-feed you their opinion though. Seems like the director kind of is doing this.
shareI'm pretty sure the director isn't trying to get people to become Christians by showing them that if they do they'll get to fight vampires in a desert in the future.
shareThis isn't the directors story, it's a comic to film adaptation
Gus: Shawn, it's Wu-shu, it sounds more authentic
Shawn: It sounds delicious, is what it sounds

"It might be fantasy, but by having elements of the Catholic faith which are UNIQUE to the Catholic faith (Confession, monsignors, hail marys, our fathers, rosaries, etc)which are REAL and then incorporating them in a world of FANTASY where church leaders refuse to allow a priest to save his niece and statements like "go against the church, go against God" it is most definitely an attack on Catholics."
The catholic church has a history of commiting genocides based on doctrinal disagreements, so statements like "go against the church, go against God" is not exactly an unfair or mean-spirited attack. In a world where modern society has crumbled, it's not exactly a huge stretch to imagine a church more similar to the inhuman and power-hungry church of the early days of Christianity.
In any case, I don't see why it is anti-catholic, simply because it contains some indirect criticism of how humans can corrupt the catholic message. The hero of this story was still a catholic, and just because the church in the movie had an unreasonable leader Catholicism as a whole isn't criticized. I view it as more of a message on how humans can pervert the message of God, and that even church leaders are fallible.
Only totally "UNIQUE" to the Catholic church except prior to the various schisms.
sharetry looking up catholics in history mate ,you might find the contrary of your comments
Don't scare me....i poop easily
I didn't find anything against Christianity/Catholicism. It was a post-apocalyptic,sci-fi (pro)catholic western vampire flick. It reminds me of Van Helsing,Underworld and the video game DarkWatch.
If you believe in Jesus Christ and are 100% proud of it put this as your signature
There seems to be an error in the director's name. Just guugle "A Gentlemen's Evening".
I wouldn't want to advertise, but since it's a funny strip directly related to the movie, I thought it'd be worth a mention :). (It's also advertising the movie in a way, and thus IMDB itself, so there shouldn't be a problem).
Nope, it actually rags on Catholicism and SUPPORT Christianity:
"Remember, our strength doesn't come from the church. It comes from God."
I love that line. I SERIOUSLY expected some nonsense about strength coming from "within," but behold! Awesomeness.

I would totally read 95 Theses with Vampires :-)
But I feel like, in this world, it's post-apocalyptic and this the key points of faith are gone... Absolution is the only way? Not a Catholic or Christian principal, thus the characters aren't catholic or christian..... It is def important to faiith issues, but Christ is technically the only way, so.......
He doesn't hate Christianity; he just uses themes and tones from their fictional book to inspire his fictional movies. And as a person who has read the Bible through twice, I would have to say that this guy is far more entertaining. Story-wise Legion is far more believable and coherent than most of the Bible.
Were it so easy.
i think most people mix Christianity with church. this movie is pro-god but anti-church. and its alright, because church and Christianity have very few things in common any more in real life too.

Sorry, but the movie isn't pro-this or anti-that, it's a post-apocalyptic sci-fi that borrows from Catholic undertones. That's that, nothing less, nothing more - this *beep* movie isn't at all deep enough to come off as anti-anything xD
shareI think you have the words wrong still.
The church/Christianity vs spirituality. Christianity is a part of the church and vice versa but spirituality is a very different thing.
Christianity is not part of the church. church grew out of Christianity when priests got greedy. if anything church is addition to Christianity. The original Christians had no "Church". infact churches of Christians didn't appear for hundreds of years since Christianity beginning.
spirituality is much broader concept and Christianity is only a small part of it.

All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for enough good men to do nothing.
Catholics, not Christians.
