Nicholas Cage - The Wicker Man, Ghost Rider, Next, Bangkok Dangerous, Knowing, G-Force, Drive Angry... I haven't seen Matchstick Men, The Sorcerer's Apprentice, or Season of the Witch so I won't comment on those.
You all know what I'm talking about.

Actors signing on for whatever sh!t jobs come their way. That's what I meant. Sad that I had to spell it out for you.

Thanks for taking the time to clarify your point. I'm still not seeing where Nicolas Cage enters into this. Channing Tatum and Ashton Kutcher take roles for money, too. Why not compare Paul Bettany to them?
Because Nicholas Cage has had way more misses then Kutcher and Tatum combined lol. The only good films Cage has had in the last long while was the National Treasure movies, Lord of War, and Kick-Ass.

Many viewers would add The Weather Man, Knowing, and Bad Lieutenant to that list of good films. Many crowds also enjoyed World Trade Center and Ghost Rider. Paul Bettany may not be above cashing a paycheck, but he needs to get much more popular before he stands a chance of becoming the next Nic Cage.

- I never get why people get so "affected" by this. I mean, it's not like we're saying, "hey, look at that accountant, how dare he accept jobs from all those small sh!tty companies when he should be waiting for a grand, deluxe corporation to offer him a job... I bet he accepts all those small jobs here and there just to get paid!"...
Being an actor is a profession. It's what they live on. They don't have an obligation to us or anyone else to only accept jobs we deem to be of "high quality" or whatever.

Yeah but when your in front of the public's eye, you can expect slander if you're constantly putting out sh!tty product. Do you think if Coca Cola switched up all their ingredients and started selling a product that tasted like sewage and sandpaper that people would still buy it? No, the answer is they wouldn't.
And to the other reply, I haven't seen Bad Lieutenant and I only saw bits and pieces of Weather Man, but please god tell me you don't consider Knowing a good film.. I mean Ghost Rider, I might be able to understand, but Knowing..?

The difference being Nicholas Cage is a horrible actor and Paul Bettany is fabulous. I like Legion & Priest. The Tourist sucked ass but that's not really Bettany's fault. And yeah, all of those Cage movies suck. The Wickerman is the worst acting I've ever seen in my entire life.

Wicker Man caused me to boycott ALL Cage movies in the future. Bettany has never come close to make me want to boycott his work. :)

Well,i'm guessing that Paul Bettany is less popular
than Nicholas Cage,makes less hits and has a lower
salary.

I have not seen The wicker man,G-Force(was Nic really in that movie?)
,Drive Angry or Matchstick Men.
Didn't like Bangkok Dangerous or Season of the witch much.
Kind of enjoyed Ghost rider,Next and Knowing.
The tourist made over 278 million worldwide

Nicholas Cage has less talent than Paul Bettany and IMO considerably less attractive too. I haven't seen any deterioration in Paul's acting and on-screen presence so until that occurs no he isn't becoming the next Nicholas Cage.
He not only does what he does for money, but for fun. With Legion he wanted to play with guns. So why not do it?

Cage has been in some bad roles recently, but his been in a number of great roles in the past like Adaptation, lord of War, Leaving Las vegas,vampires Kiss, Raising Arizona, and a feew others I forgot. I think he gets alot of underserved hate, although he does deserve it for his recent roles.
shareNow, you see its unfair. Cage is actually an excellent actor. Raising Arizona, Leaving Las Vegas Red Rock West are excellent films with cage's performances being integral. Con Air is a Dumb film, but top notch entertainment and Cage absolutely nailed the role. Yes, his hairline is a joke, and he probably should say no to many of the roles he gets, but when some producer says hey, do you wanna ride a muscle car and shoot guns and make out with a really hot actress young enough to be your grandaughter for 6 weeks of filming whilst having your ass kissed by 30 people while we give you 3 million dollars, you would say hmmm, well actually I was thinking of doing this off broadway Checkov production...
And then after all the crap movies he has made, Warner Herzog STILL wants to cast him, so why the hell not?
Bettany is a great British actor, who now has a hollywood wife, and a hollywood agent, and is after the American Dream. priest, probably earned him more than his parents earned in their lifetime. He is riding the Hollywood wave, and That ,my dears, requires sucking Satan's black j**m once in a while.
