Liked it but they left out a few things.

The book starts out with the author's childhood and his mixed breed dog named Shaun. The dog was well trained and disciplined; he was referred to as Saint Shaun. Including a few minutes of this would have contrasted nicely with the hell on wheels that Marley turned out to be.

Also in the book Marley stood guard over an assault victim until the police arrived; one of the truly good things Marley did in the book. Too bad it didn't make it to the movie script.

It's still a good movie. I'm crying buckets, and it's not yet even over (though I did see it when it came out).

I have never read the book nor own it, but I know that the dvd has deleted scenes so check them out they could have fileld them, but you know that they can't keep everything in the film.

Well there was a scene where their neighbor got stabbed and John & Marley sat with her.

They left out something critical. They left out the part where the dog was nice.
