loved it!-except I wish it ended with a little more(spoiler)

Best movie I have seen in a while-great concept and not a dull moment. The hopeless romantic in me however was sad that they didn't kiss at the end-or I was also hoping it would show how their lives ended up as adults. Nevertheless it was a great movie overall and if you haven't seen it you should!

oh man they don't kiss!

Yes there was something about this film that just wasn't emotional or powerful enough. It's still a good film, but it just seems too weak in the emotional department. I give the film 7/10.

Yes, there was a lack of closure for me too. When it ends, I think the 2 main characters are in jr. high school. I was left wondering would their relationship endure through high school and beyond?

I agree, kind of wished for a little kiss at the end :)
Great movie however

I guess it was very much expected, that cud be reason for that...

in terms of bryce and juli, i just wanted to see them kiss. timewise it's unrealistic, but i also wanted the tree to grow really big, and for them to enjoy the view together.

i also feel like there were a lot of subplots that were mentioned or introduced that weren't resolved properly, like bryce's father and his music.

I would like to feel the pain of a broken heart, just to let me know that I can fall apart...

I agree that it would have been nice that they kissed, showed what they were doing in the future, why his father was bitter, what happened to Juli's brothers but in reality it ended nicely. They held hands and he was the one who initiated it instead of her for a change. I loved this movie!

No, the ending is fine. The ending in the book is sort of a cliffhanger, they just waved at each other and that's it. I think it's an indication that they're starting a new relationship.

yeah the ending in the book was so open ended (also in the movie), julie just waved and bryce waved back :) the end but i kinda loved the ending in the movie :)

It is assumed that they will kiss. They need time to warm up to each other again. Besides, this is the story about the journey it took for both of them to fall for each other, at the same time. It took both of them Filpping and flopping until they could see eye to eye.

Also, people saying we should see the subplots ie: His dad's story, her uncle's story, their future, etc, etc, etc.....this movie wasn't about that. It was about them finding their first true love. The only reason those other stories were intertwined was to show how it affected them, molded them, and ultimately how it affected their relationship with each other. We don't need to know his dad's history to realize that he probably had dreams of being a musician, they failed, and now he lives the normal suburban life and takes it out on others in order to make himself feel better, or that her uncle will probably be in that place until he dies....just how it touched them during their coming of age. I personally think they told us enough to know that there are more layers to that onion, just like with every person/family and telling the whole thing would take a lifetime.

Psychos do not explode when sunlight hits them. I don't give a *beep* how crazy they are!

Couldn't agree more.

For those of you who wanted a kiss, yes it's probably something an audience would hope for at the end, but at the same time this is an innocent and light hearted story about the love of 2 kids, and in that sense I feel there was no true need to add a kiss to the end. You can clearly see they're finally together and that their relationship will most likely evolve from there.

For those of you who said it wasn't powerful enough because it lacked a kiss or anything physical, I feel love can be very emotionally strong even without the presence of anything physical. And once again, these are 2 kids in the 60s and you can't expect it to be as powerful as great thunderous love spreading like wildfire in the complicated lives of 2 adults, e.g. The Notebook. Innocent and light hearted instead.

Agreed on all points.

Plus the movie was set up for a perfect ending where you can see them coming back to the tree in each decade, seeing them mature together and age together, proposing by the tree, bringing their children to see the tree, and their grandchildren...that would have been satisfying!

I don't know. I thought it was sweeter showing them planting a tree together. Either way I agree: This is a lovely and wonderful film! :)
