Strange old guy suddenly visits girl across the road

If this had been set in modern times it would have been hard to see how they would get away with the grandpa suddenly visiting a girl across the road like that. It doesn't matter how good his intentions might be. Just one of the many unfortunate blights on society today - that we are bred to automatically assume the worst in a situation like that

That's sad. When I was a kid growing up in the 70s I would constantly visit older neighbors. I would play with their dogs and they gave me milk and cookies and we would chat.

This film did a great job portraying blights on society during the era it was set in. Brice’s father being but one example.
