Amazingly Accurate, Extremely Gripping.
I am a huge astronomy nerd and this movie nails it and that is exactly why it is my personal favorite sci-fi.
Everything about it is about real life theories and follows the laws of physics. The "mountain" scene on the water plant is completely realistic. The extent of how big the waves were were exaggerated but realistic. Tides on Earth are caused by the gravity coming from the moon, the "waves" on the water plant were tides being affected by the black hole the planet was orbiting.
Time really is effected by gravity and the speed at which you are traveling. The fact that time moved differently on the water planet is a real thing in the universe, it just isn't anything that affects us because there is no gravity with that extent we are able to reach.
When they are inside the black hole, it is a real theory. The 4th dimension is there, we just don't know how to interact with it.
The loophole they travel through is a theory that could definitely work if we had the resources and energy to create it.
Dr. Brand is a scientist trying to come up with real life theories scientists are currently trying to prove but are too advanced and ahead of our time.
They also hired scientists with different backgrounds on space. The movie crew actually made a new DISCOVERY making the movie. They went into so much detail to get the facts right they discovered some black holes have those rings you saw in the movie.
I could go into immense detail on the sciences of it if anyone wants to know.
Besides the sciences, it is an amazing movie. I love the casting and Hans Zimmer does an amazing job as usual with the soundtrack. It is my favorite soundtrack tied with The Social Network. Christopher Nolan (the director) is my personal favorite and in my top 10 favorite movies, Christopher Nolan has directed 3 of them.
Matthew Mcconaughey carries an amazing and moving performance with his attachment to his kids. He has many moving scenes that brought me to tears.
The movie has an amazing flow that keeps you engaged for the entire movie. It has a scary realistic plot of Earth losing its potency to grow livestock and sustain life. The grandpa in that movie actually represents our generation now. He mentions once or twice about when he was a kid, "people created something new everyday, with everybody trying to have it all". That is a current poke at todays society.
I really appreciate it if and of you read this and please reply with any questions or comments!
Thank you.
