I just saw this film tonight, and whilst I thought it wonderfully realistic and deeply touching, I was confused regarding the neighbours involvement.
I couldn't make out the video footage from the tape found in her room---was she supposed to have been raped or beaten or summat? From the dialogue during that part of the film, it sounded sinister. Did the neighbours murder her?

Well no they did not kill her, she drowned. But looks like she was involved in some sort of "Relationship" with them which included video of them having a 3-way. I agree it did sound like she was crying during it, but it was never really revealed how "into-it" she was..but enough so that SHE had / kept the video tape. At any rate, she regretted it and was ashamed of it. Not to mention I think she was supposed to be 16...so it is rape anyway you slice it in America...and pretty damn sure in Australia...

Actually, contrary to popular belief the age of consent in most parts of the United States is 16...but I don't know about Australia.
