My boyfriend said that this was the scariest movie he's ever seen.

And that he would have nightmares for weeks. And he's 21. -.-

Based on his glowing recommendation and assurance that I'd be terrified, I had high expectations for this movie.

What a let-down.

It's an excellent film, but for this type of scare it doesn't beat Paranormal Activity or The Blair Witch Project.

reply

Well, I was terrified. ITA with your BF. Scary, scary movie and much deeper than any film people usually compare it to.

A friend of mine said the movie scared him, but I found it totally non-scary.

I didn't even think Paranormal Activity was the slightest bit scary either. And what plot twists? It was the brother all along? The neighbors were CONVENIENTLY in the pictures? Don't make me laugh.

reply

wait... did you even see the end?

it most definitely wasn't the brother all along. that was merely the first plot twist.

reply

This movie is certainly not one of a kind. It has been done and far outdone before by films like Japan's Noroi and Occult, or the UK's Ghost Watch.

reply

Noroi?
Lol, Noroi has literally nothing to do with this.

reply

Except they're both found footage horror movies. Nothing at all in common!

reply

Yeah, and both have end credits. What a ripoff!

reply

Different things scare different people. People aren't right or wrong for being affected by a movie.

This movie wasn't that scary to me, but I think it was a well made, poignant, and very haunting. I was more moved by the emptiness and loneliness of the girl in her life and death than by any scary element . Although it did creep me out when they showed the image of her camera phone and what it represented.

It's a good ghost story.
