Because it's not that good.

Yeah, it's good. But not good enough for a higher rating. ^ is a good rating. 5 is average.

reply

No, not that good. Not for callous desensitised kiddies with zero emotional intelligence.

I blame it on the fact that no one knows this film. Hell, I live in Australia and I never heard anything about its release. I found it at an old Movie Rental place and that was literally the first I even knew of its existence.

It mainly comes down to what Australian Cinema is like nowadays. Even after the 70's, 80's and 90's when we made some pretty well made movies, only around 25 films are made in Australia every year. Now compare that to the *beep* load Hollywood forks out? Even Canadian cinema does better than that.

Not only that but when talking about the best Australian movies, they tend to lean more towards comedies or dramatic films. Now sometimes they surprise me, but overall I can name 10 Aussie comedies, 10 Aussie dramatic films, 10 Aussie "racism is bad" movies, ask me to name an Australian action film or 5 Australian horror films (after I name Lake Mungo and Picnic at Hanging Rock for Horror), you'll just get one long "Err..."

I really like this film for breaking the mold a bit but if the whole industry was like this, we'd have better movies.

It sucked. Watch Noroi.

Are you kidding me?? Does Blues Clues scare you too?? This movie was the most boring movie I have ever seen! Intelligent horror?? How? Because it's a documentary? Nothing happens the whole movie... The scary images of the girl are just pictures of her in shadow! Want a creepy documentary type movie - watch The Bay.. Or even Banshee Chapter. Anything but this snooze fest. If you were scared by this then you are either a 10 year old baby girl or a giant pussy cat (minus the cat)

Wow judgmental much ? and the fact that you say The Bay is better than this... The bay bored the *beep* out of me.... People find different things scary, it is probably you who is about ten years old using language like pussy.

Because there are a lot of immature dopes out there who need jump scares every 5 seconds in order for them to think something is scary. Mostly because they have the attention sons of ferrets on crack.

Ferrets On Crack would be a great band name btw.

Simply because this kind of film isn't for all tastes. I personally loved it but I understand why it wouldn't work for other viewers. As far as IMDb rating are concerned, I don't take them seriously at all. Nearly all of my favorite movies are rated between 6.0 and 7.9 on here and I consider them MUCH better than most of the junk currently filling up IMDb's "Top 250."

This is the best answer. I didn't care for it myself. I found it boring. And I enjoy many slow paced films. And I'm not desensitized to horror. I try not to watch much of it because it brings down my mood. Anyway, just like the same drug sometimes doesn't work for everyone; the same film sometimes doesn't work for everyone. If so many others liked it then it did it's job. I would vote it maybe a five, but I have nothing against others rating it higher.

I gave this film a five. I don't think it was "bad" but through out I just didn't know what I was supposed to be feeling. Was I supposed to be sad? Curious? Scared? I didn't really feel any of that. The majority of the film I was wondering what I was supposed to be watching.
