I've seen all horror films. All of them. This is the best one.
FOr the people that didnt, I can only fathom that they watched it it during the day, with the lights on,, and friends around. Morons, thats now how you watch horror films.
It was much more creepy and unsettling than I expected (I also appreciated the constant shouts to Twin Peaks), but the film needlessly hobbled itself by sticking so staunchly to the mockumentary format. At times, it felt like nothing more than a convenient device to avoid showing any genuine drama. Some of the events described seemed to be simply crying out for dramatization.
Then again, the ghost sightings were as creepy as in any film I've seen, and some of the connecting images were just out of this world beautiful. It also has an interesting thematic undercurrent, successfully using the generic ghost story tropes to construct a heartfelt and fairly poignant study of grief. An interesting, impressive film, but also a bit of a missed opportunity.

I'd have much preferred the story being told in a more traditional movie format. It had the potential to be something really different. As it stands, it's a clever hybrid of found footage and mockumentary, but that's about all it is.🐭

I love horror films but they rarely scare me. This one really messed me up.
I watched it at night, but with a friend and when the infamous scene near the end happened, I was pretty much scared out of my wits. Really had chills going up and down my spine. Before, I really didn't think a horror film could achieve that anymore.
I have no idea how I would have reacted if I watched this alone, lol.
To me it was creepy and very sad, but not scary. I've seen much better "scary" movies, but I enjoyed the fact that I was left feeling very sad after this film was over.

The idea that they were all psychically feeling each others' presences across time was mildly interesting, but I just didn't find it compelling. None of it gave me a creepy feeling at all. Perhaps you have to be a fan of fake paranormal investigation ghostbuster reality tv? The image on her buried phone at the lake just made me laugh, with its one eye closed. Like they told the actress, okay, try to look creepy. I guess ghosts just aren't my thing. I find it creepier in the type of stories where characters think they've interacted with a person who they later find out had been dead.
On the other hand, Paranormal Activity did give me a feeling of dread, in spite of the mainstream cheesiness.
And no, I watched it alone in the dark!
Erm, iv'e watched a lot of horror films, it is my chosen genre and to be honest if you think this is the best horror film ever made you clearly haven't watched enough.
This is not a frightening movie at all, is it a fairly decent drama yes but is it a chilling horror film ...not so much.
