WHAT DID ALICE DIE OFF
What was the offical corinors report as to the cause of death, obviously she drowned, but why? did she have a heart attack was she bitten, were there hand marks on her body, I personaly think her brother killed her.
shareThere's no motive for the brother to kill her. If he had killed her, it would've been used later on as a plot point. There would at least be some clues for people to spot if they rewatch the movie.
The cause of death is never revealed because it doesn't really matter. It's more or less implied that the death was accidental.

shareI part company with anyone suggesting the reason she drowned didn't matter; seems quite logical for us to wonder exactly why this happened- especially when we learn of her secret life. Watching it, it looked to me like they were going to pin it on the kinky neighbours. Whatever the reason, I find this unresolved question distracting rather than haunting.

shareGood point about Buckley. One second the individual in question is in the water and people nearby see him/her; a moment later and they're underneath the water and never reappear (alive). The causes are various: fainting, a current pulls them down/away, an unknown medical condition, electricity immobilizes them, suicide, etc.
