Is this story in any way inspired by Alistar Crowley?
Just curious. It sounds sorta like if from the plot.

That's what I was thinking, especially when I found out that Robert Englund's character's name is Professor Crowley.
Either way though, it sounds like an interesting movie. It has kind of an Evil Dead feel to it.
How many horror films/stories aren't?
To answer you, I think it's inspired by other things that were inspired by Crowley.
Inspired by a cartoon that was inspired by a book that was inspired by a movie that was inspired by a rumour that was inspired by something that somebody thought actually might have happened to their grandmother's old college roommate's next door neighbour's cat's former owner.

I don't think so, the Crowley of this movie was just a science teacher.
