Jack Brooks Slayed 90 minutes of my time (spoilers)

Wow this is just awful. I mean how do you screw this up?! All you have to do is have a guy slaying monsters, an easy concept. But nooooo, the monster slaying WILL NOT BEGIN until 60 minutes in and even then its lame. I was kinda jazzed up to see this and the trailer kicked ass but what a dissapointment. Way to much setup and backstory you couldnt care less about that ultimately leads to a flat climax. For a film in this genre its REALLY stupid.

I have seen some posts here reference the Evil Dead and it does feel like an homage to that most excellent film but this is in no way even in the same league. As a matter of fact its an afront to even compare it to the cult classic!

Only 2 things good about this movie, the make-up (but its not that original cause most of em look just like Orcs) and a couple of hot blondes. Other than that dont waste your time. Re-watch the Evil Dead for the real thing!

To be honest with you, I loved the first 2/3 of the film and thought it got a little stale in the last 1/3. I really enjoyed the character and how unique and funny the movie felt. Everything about it was great up to that point. When the whole monster-slaying part comes up, it got a little repetitive IMO. It's something we've seen many times before and know what's going to happen. Don't get me wrong, the effects are cool, but it's just Jack fighting a monster for the last 1/3 of the film.

I agree, too long to set up... but I thought the monster costumes looked good.

It took like an hour to get to the monsters.
Watch Slither instead.
