Everything in the middle just was'nt very good. =(

It's an origin thing. The first Evil Dead wasn't very action oriented. But the sequels are B-grade classics.

Yes it wasn't very action oriented.

It had SUSPENSE, CHARACTERS, INTERESTING STUFF HAPPENING etc.

Also IMO The Evil Dead (1) is a classic in it's own right if a little rough around the edges.

Whereas the edges were fine for Jack Brooks, it was the filling that was severely lacking.
