She gave it to him because she knew Dylan would not use it. Splendora said that the amulet could tempt even a good witch, and so Marnie knew she needed to leave it with someone who has no interest in magic.

shareWell you didn't really expect Marnie to destroy a precious family heirloom, and like everyone stated, she knew Dylan wouldn't use it so knew it would be safe...and if they hadn't pretended to destroy it the diminion would continue to look for it...
btw, that wasn't the library, that was Dylan's private room...lol
