Can Not Take This Movie Seriously

My face was so disturbed when I saw this for the first time. I had to hold my mouth shut, in fear I may spit out chunks of puke. My stomach felt nauceous and I felt dizzy. My hand was shaking and my eye twitched. The casting of Sara Paxton not only ruined this movie for me, but ruined the first three as well. If you can't get Kimberly, don't do it at all. It was a good movie, but I was disturbed throughout

I like to pretend this one was never made. The first 3 are the only ones in existence in my mind.

Mr. Shue? I wrote another verse of "Trouty Mouth."

^ Agreed. The fourth is horrible. = /
I mean, why bother to make the film when you don't even have the MAIN CHARACTER ? And the second main character Debbie Reynolds was barely even in it. = /
I had high hopes for this film when I first heard/read it was coming out. When I found out there was no Kim and later found out she was replaced by Sara Paxton I realized this was the doom of Disney Channel Original Movies and the channel itself.
RIP Classic Disney Channel. = [
Still love the first two, and I've also come to like the third.

Y'all are talking like it's the damned apocalypse or something. Yes, they made a casting change. They aren't the first people to ever do it and Sara Paxton does a good job. Though she is not the Marni we know and love from the precious films, Sara does a good job playing her own version of Marni. Yes it's sad that we didn't see the original actress, but Sara does NOT ruin the movie and stays true to the character for the most part.
The thing you should be frustrated about are the serious plot holes in this film.
SPOILER ALERT

The gift is absolute control of another person. How did the Dominion honestly believe that once they give Marni "the gift" that she would hand everything over to them. It makes no sense. They have no free will, thus no power to stop her from trying something. She could make them denounce their powers, turn themselves in, kill each other. They have no advantage. She could even make them change Dylan back and live their lives in poverty, solitude and as mortals. Their is no way they would have won.

Also is it just me or does Halloweentown get bigger and bigger. And there was no mention of their ever being a university in Halloweentown, especially one that close.
And to top it all off they made the role of Agatha virtually nonexistent when this movie is all about her past. And gave her another name to boot. What's up with that?
Plus how do the Sinister sisters lose their powers, while Ethan just denounces his? It doesn't make sense.

Sara Paxton didn't ruin this movie, the plot holes, lack of major characters, and lack of consistency does that.
The fact that they changed actors means they wanted to go in a new direction.
Disney has done it before. That's why all the Aladdin sequels weren't as good. They didn't have Robin Williams in "Return of Jafar." They used a different actor, Dan Castellaneta, and didn't even give his own version of Genie, but try to duplicate Robin Williams. And although We had the original Genie for "Aladdin and the King of the Thieves," it was too late. And this is all despite the fact that Walt Disney, the man, did not believe in sequels.

This was a good movie despite all the flaws it has, but it is not fair to blame everything on the fact that they changed actresses. And it is definitely not fair to lay blame on Sara Paxton for something that was beyond her control. I'm sure she did the best she could. Disney cast directors, producers, directors, and writers are the people who made those choices and the people you should be blaming.

I'd say the Sinister Sisters losing their magic is fine and not a plot hole. Ethan reformed and tried to help in the end, and didn't do anything too bad to have his powers taken. Whereas the Sinister Sisters were actively helping the Dominion and abusing their powers against others as well.
Also, just because we weren't shown or heard about a university before doesn't mean it wasn't there or the world was expanding. It just never fit the plot before to bring up and they weren't involved with any characters that would be connected to it at the time.

Do agree that the Dominion's plan was a huge issue with the movie. Never understood that either how they were going to force Marnie to give them control when she had all the power. As stated she could have done anything she wanted to them once she had the Gift.

Overall I actually enjoyed this one, but yea it feels a little less Halloweentown-ish. I wish they have Kimberly back and not recast but thought Sara did a decent job. Also would have been nice to have Debbie Reynolds in it more and see more of Agatha, but guess if she was there she could have just explained everything from the get go and what the Gift was, etc. and then there'd be no plot. If she was in it more then it would make no sense why she couldn't just tell them about it all.
