The scene where his girlfriend finds out his real job

I don't understand why Nicolas Cage is even a little surprised at the outcome of that part. If he wants to keep his identity secret, why clap at two guys in front of your girl? I know he was about to get mugged, but if I recall correctly he overwhelmed them first and then they were on the ground, and Cage just leans over shoots them with a cool face. Then he's upset that his girlfriend found out.

Makes no sense.

She doesn't see anything. See turns around and two guys are dead, and he's holding his wallet. Just like a woman to be afraid because you take time out of petting elephants to kill a couple of muggers. Really she was just pissed that he ruined her dress

Definitely the worst scene in the movie, wouldnt you think he'd run over to try to stop her from looking?

My impression was that he acted in auto mode. Didn't think just acted so, oops moment so to speak. Tho pretty high on the oopses :)

i agree with the guy above. I think he acted upon instinct. Besides, they attacked him from behind so he has no idea they were just muggers. He probably thought they were the villains trying to kidnap/kill him so he just went ahead and kill them

I don't understand why the girlfriend was so upset that Nick Cage had effectively disposed of two muggers who potentially could have harmed her as well. Why immediately jump to the conclusion that he was a bad guy when maybe all he was only someone who carried a gun and knew how to use it. One of the weakest plot points in this otherwise entertaining movie.

It made a lot more sense in the original.

Also I suppose, why wasn't he grabbing her to get the heck out of there. There's a good chunk of reasons why you don't just stand around. That whole part was just mind boggling.

Wouldn't of "auto mode" been to get out of there afterward? :/
