season 2

is the bbc going to make another season of this?

reply

Guess not. Six years later we now have our answer, unfortunately.

I keep hoping that with Heidi Thomas's immense success as the writer of "Call the Midwife" and the ratings and DVD sales that have skyrocketed all over the world, SOME intelligent programming director at the BBC would urge her to revive "Lilies" and continue that story.

Though 6 years is an eon in the television world. But Downton on ITV and CtM on BBC are period shows that have become blockbusters at a time when producers were announcing that period drama was dead!!!

So maybe the BBC will wake up and smell the coffee. It would be tricky to restart "Lilies" -- and are the actresses and McArdle even around to do it? But Heidi Thomas is a brilliant writer...she could find some way to restart it and make it fresh for those who did not see the first series, so that somebody could start with the reboot and not be lost.

I never understood why nobody watched it.

Was it because it was BBC Northern Ireland? Sometimes those shows don't get the advertising push others get.
