Just watched the new Mapp and Lucia and was wondering if the original was better?
shareI'm still catching up on the new version. I've only watched about 15 mins, so I['m hesitant to make a judgment, but I suspect that the old version is not only better, but immensely so. (I'm struggling to continue with the new version, frankly.)
shareI've heard a lot of good things about the original series, but, I just couldn't get on with the new version so I'm torn
shareOh gosh, I absolutely LOVE the earlier version with Scales, Hawthorne, and McEwan! I borrow it from the library at least 4-5 times a year, it's so delicious! IMO the characters are much more accessible in the older version. Something about the new version made me feel as though there was a huge wall up between the actors' performances and the viewer. I just couldn't connect, if you get my meaning.
Not so with the older production. LOVE it, and am always immediately engaged.
