The Nines: A Documentary

Am I really the only one who took this movie literally?

Part II is filmed like a reality show because it's based on reality. Ryan Reynolds plays the role of John August. Nearly everything that happens in part II is based on what happened during the filming of the movie. Melissa goes by her real name, she's buying a house with her husband- a real life event that took place during the making of the film.

The 9s are not gods, I don't understand how everyone believes that to be what the movie is about. John August is a writer, he wrote the plot to the 9's. Part I, II, and III, they were all stories John August wrote that shared a similar theme. While writing these stories he got so pulled into these worlds he was creating that he had lost track of his real life outside of writing. The MMMs were John's anchor, he kept clinging to this character, trying to create a story- or a world involving her. He kept getting sucked back into writing because of her. She was trying to trick him into staying, because as just an aspect of his writing, she would not exist if he was to stop writing.

John... err, the GGGs, created hundreds of stories around the MMMs, so many that they started twisting around each other and getting confused with one another- or bumping into one another, being why the GGGs literally bumped into each other.

After getting pulled into these stories, other 9s showed up, to get August out of writing this story. He was losing touch with his loved ones in real life. So to get him to stop writing and pay attention to them, these 9's, or John's real life friends, worked their way into his stories- playing by his rules- to bring them to an end... to get August to let go of this MMM character.

GGG is not a god, he is just the god of these worlds he created, because as the writer he can end them, he can make koala's more supreme than humans, he can end a life with just a simple delete, or with the eraser of his pencil if you will. This movie, to me, was a documentary of John August writing this movie.

One scene he mentions that he created a car when he was a young kid. Meaning this story, that anchor, has been absorbing him his whole life, and it was finally time to put it to rest.

I wouldn't say you took it literally at all. If you took it literally (at face value) you missed the mark completely. now if you took it "figuratively" then I'd say you might be on to something.
