Is it film about drug addiction?

I got the feeling that this film was about drug addiction, and a guy creating all of these worlds while under the influence of drugs. And the other "7's" try to come in and save him pretty much. I think they even say something about drugs in the movie if i'm not mistaken. A thing that is bugging me who is the real Gary? Is the real Gary showed as one of the 3 Gary's shown in the movie?

Oookay. Were do i start. First of all, yes. It was kind of a addiction story. But not like actual drugs. And no 7 was trying to save him. The beeing trying to save him were all 9s. All higher beeings. They wanted to save him because he got addicted to the world he created.

It was really only the role of the actor that had an alcohol and drug problem (well not really a drug problem because he didn't know how to smoke crack). None of the other 2 roles of G had any type of problem like that. So it's not really drug addiction. But, I think addiction played an integral role to the message the writer/director was trying to convey. Sometimes you escape your true self to experience something new, but that "something new" you create takes you away from who you really are. And sometimes a person can become so immersed into this new experience that they forget that they even need to "return to reality".

I thought that it might have been the truth when he was on that road and the Hope Davies character told him he was a crack addict and needed to come out of his fantasy world. He then chose not to. I think they were all in some sort of hospital/rehab place in reality.

It "can be" about drug addiction. But more importantly, it's about addiction to anything: becoming so absorbed by something that you not only forget who you are, but forget about those around you.
