Ending was in Very Bad Taste

Misdirecting the audience with the cop who turns out to be a stripper was a joke done in very poor taste, in my opinion.

And yes, I realize it was likely intended by the writer/director to be black humor, but sorry it wasn't funny even in that sense and frankly, how you make any sort of successful joke about crimes of pedophilia is a very tall order. Best not to try it unless you're a writer who can pull it off. Rifkin clearly can't.

A really tasteless ending to an otherwise engaging flick.

How is it tasteless? it was mocking the notion that the Pedophile would get his just deserts. guess what... that's how real life is. the bad guy doesn't always get caught. at first I was applauding when the Cop appeared. but I felt the ending was realistic. I give the move props for not ending on a positive note.

ditto, it's the sort of ending you don't ever see, don't ever want to see..but need to see..this is real life, look away if you choose.

I don't think it was meant to be funny. It was more of a way of saying how pathetic society has become, that the pedophile was never actually caught but instead was pushed further and further into his psychosis because of the way he was pushed further and further from bullying his entire life. It by no means excuses his crime, but it shows that this may just be the beginning and that little girl may just be the first of a long line of unfortunate victims, partly due to pathetic people who don't know when to stop (his co-workers).
