The teacher/student senario makes me so mad

I think it is so stupid that in America you HAVE to be 18, not 1 day less than 18, to have legal consent to have sex. It is the girls decision. If they have hit puberty they are capable of having sex, you can't argue with nature. It would be wrong to have sex with a teenager that wasn't in the right state of mind to do so (either they are drunk or mentally challenged) now that I agree with, and that is actually rape. But this is totally different. If they want to have sex, that is their decision and it is downright stupid to say they can't and it is illegal.

What makes people think that girls are so much more different once they are 18? Their boobs and ass don't magically appear when they turn 18, you know. Just like this movie showed, a 16 year old girl (sometimes even younger) can look exactly like an 18 year old. So what is the actual difference? NONE. Expect time, they are just 700 days apart from each other.

The lawyer in this movie pretty much hit the nail on the head at the end of this movie. Males are genetically programed to be attracted to curvy pretty woman whether they be 16 or 18, especially ones that have large breasts and a nice waist to hip ratio. This is because men genetically designed, past down from countless generations, to find a good mate that can easily bare children. Women with larges breasts and bottoms are really good for bearing children because of the large breasts (for feeding the child) and large bottom (for supporting the birth). Girls are getting this curvy image younger and younger now because they are hitting puberty at much younger ages. Guys are frowned upon because they look at these girls and fantasize having sex with them and they are simply labeled as a PEDO because of this. It's so stupid.

The simple fact that this girl initiated everything and was her decision and the teacher was just doing what his innate senses are telling him to do makes him get a minimum of 10 years in prison and has to register as a sex offender. Sex offenders are reserved for child rapists and real pedos (like the guy in the blue mat in the mall). Which kind of brings up some irony about this film, the real sick pedo gets away but the guy that just had sex with some super hot 16 year old gets his life completely destroyed.

Your probably saying, it's just a movie. But this kind of thing happens all the time. Luckily, this nonsense is only in America. Other countries, like Canada for example have an age of consent law of 16, which IMO is the appropriate age of consent.

I agree with you. Luckily, many United States' age of consent is actually 16, although many others' is 18. I happen to live in one of the ones where it's 16.

It's more than her age. Teachers have a duty of care not to shag their students, it's a simple as that.

reply

Agreed, however, instead of a criminal charge such as depicted in the movie, being fired and never being able to teach again is sufficient. Registered sexual predator? Too much, as you can clearly see he didn't "hunt" to "stalk" this girl, in fact, the teenage girl should be a registered sexual predator for her actions of luring men.

10 years in prison is a bit much, and hopefully the girl would have gotten more than a slap to the face for her lies. That'll teach her to be manipulative.

reply

A lot of girls develop when they are still in elementary school but that doesn't mean they're ready to have sex. Physical maturity does not equal emotional or intellectual maturity. I'm pretty sure if they lowered the age of consent to 16, a lot of guys would then want to have sex with even younger girls. People are never satisfied.

reply

I agree that a 16 year old should be able to consent to sex. I do think a teacher should be fired for having sex with a student, but not go to jail.

The problem with the fact that he went to jail is that it was very clear by the footage that she came on to him and not the other way around. Had the police, knowing that she was a liar, listened to his story, they would've found out that she was actually stalking him, and that he had refused her several times. I think it's a very different story when an older man comes onto a younger, more impressionable girl. But when the girl aggressively comes on to the older man, I'm a lot more understanding of him giving into temptation.

Really SpiritedAway86? You're going to lecture about the teacher doing his underage student and call him a paedophile.. and then use a Michael Jackson signature? Now that is some hypocritical *beep* right there.

EDIT: lol i wrote this right after i read your post but it looks like you've already been called out on it.

What you are forgetting mandapanda is that he is a man. they can't get sexually harassed, esspecially not by a young girl. I'm being sarcastic ofcourse but the sad thing is many people actually believe that.

- OH NOES!!

reply

people actually think guys cant get sexually harassed????
thats crazy, so if a girl walks up to a guy and touches him (and he didnt want it), its regarded as? thats crazy.
hey is it considered sexual harassment if a guy is doing it to another guy?
Sorry but if thats true that some people believe that it just shows how stupid some people are

The LAW cannot see that. The law only sees that the female is the vulnerable one with the only exception being that other witnesses were there to explain that the guy was innocent. The U.S. more than likely wants to separate itself from the middle east where it is the other way around. The gal is innocent only if witnesses say she was. So here we are with a dilemma and how much our society is going to be screwed.. The human species may go extinct if every sex call is a fake rape and there are no better ways to establish who is guilty and who is innocent without cameras or people's words.

OP's got a point - all bright-line rules are essentially silly.

BUT, for some things, like statutory rape, we need those bright lines, because it'd be nearly impossible to construct a fair system of laws and court rulings otherwise.

I think the vast majority of people would think that 12 years would be too young an age limit, and a vast majority would think that 21 would be too old. But public opinion gets really fuzzy in between there.

That's why these laws get passed. No one truly thinks something magical happens on an 18th birthday (well, okay, maybe some people do but they're nimrods). It's just that a line must be drawn SOME-where, and it must be unambiguous.

she was the one who cracked onto him, and even when he said no many times she kept going. even when they were kissing we could hear him say "no my wife.."
Then SHE sucked his dick and SHE got ontop of him....
to be honest i think when anyone is able to flirt and know what sex is, and persue having sex with someone then it shouldnt be chargable.
Cos shye was the one all over him and flirting with him, even when he said no. and was the one who 'asked' for sex.
If anything she should have been charged with sexual harassment

Sheri's parents are very pissed at her. wouldn't she get into some sort of trouble for giving a fraudulent report of rape to the Cops? they know she was lying. I'd imagine she would have *some* type of punishment for what she did. I gotta say I applauded when her Father smacked her. she deserved it.

Also... I agree it's a shame more footage wasn't shown of her stalking the teacher. it doesn't make what he did right at all. but maybe it would've shown more sides of the story.

~I love the rhythm it is my methoood!~

As a minor, I doubt she'll get more than being released to her parents where she'll be grounded until she turned 18, leaked footage of her acts go viral at her school, she'll be labeled a slut and fail out of high school, where she'll have no other option then to star in porn.

reply

And that is why these things are overlooked for the female. It does not matter. She is 16 and she is still considered juvenile. The worst she could get is punished by her parents "OH NO!" Guys always get the shaft with exception to cases where domestic violence occurs and there are witnesses that say the gal went first. I have watched some COPS episodes.

Realistically, it is what it is because most cases do not go through all evidence. This was more of a school related thing. If by chance those other shops wanted to show their case, which really at those times they were not doing anything really wrong; they could, however, it had nothing to do with anything. The reason we saw it as stalking is because we saw it in succession.

It makes me sad too. I would very much like to have sex with a young 16 year old girl. But law forbids me to do it (even if I had a willing girl at hand). So very sad!

reply

Part of the irony of the story is that there's plenty of video evidence of her stalking, but nobody thought to look for it. According the story, it wouldn't have mattered, but if this were a real-life case, it might make a difference. The teacher is still guilty and wrong, but the overwhelming proof of the girl's stalking might have led to a reduced sentence.

I'm pretty sure the filmmakers meant for the audience to feel that what happened to the teacher was unjustly harsh; it was just one more "life sucks" moment in this excellent but rather depressing film.

To tell you the truth, the age of consent should be like 21, that way people in the U.S. can first be educated enough and hold down a job before resorting to animal instincts. Think about it. All the other countries of the world are "taking our jobs" and outdoing us because we have more time to screw around than get anything done.

Age of consent is really an all or nothing and really, there is no basis for making it. So if there was a reason to make it, to say that a kid should know or have the responsibility by this age to make their own decision; it should be at an age where they are independent. Most of the time 21 year olds are ready to live on their own and are nearly out with a college degree.

Now think about it. Having sex with someone at 21, they cannot get away with the act as quickly because they are 21 years for crying out loud. They have the education and maturity to back their decision making.

Now to go back to your instinct point, that is really not true. To live in a civilized society, this is why we have laws. For what males did back then vs. now is no comparison to really make. We are not caveman killing each other. We are a civilized society and we have come to the point that we need to be making good decisions. Our life expectancy has also been increased.

The reason why it was okay to have sex at like 13-16 was because humans would die at like 35. We now die at like 70. If we were to take that into consideration, the age of consent should be like in the 30s. Then again, womens' bodies did not change to where they are as healthy to birth in their 30s to account for this life expectancy change and this is why there is this dilemma. So 20s it is, or should be.
