Why remove the penis, then construct a vagina later?

I am curious: Why did the doctor remove Lili's penis, then construct a vagina later? I thought MTF sex reassignment surgery entailed inverting the skin of the penis to form the vagina during the same surgery that the core of the penis is removed.

Back in those days that is how it was performed because Christine Jorgensen's operation was performed that way as well back in 1952. She had castration and penis removal in Denmark, then a year later had the vaginoplasty in New Jersey.

I see. But where did the tissue for the vagina come from? And wouldn't she lose orgasmic sensation?

A skin graft, I think. Probably taken from their arm or leg. I know they used to do it that way, but not anymore.

I've heard an increasing percentage of today's M-to-F transsexuals skip the penectomy and vaginoplasty surgeries. Many MDs are just as appalled as most of the general public at the idea of removing healthy organs. In the case of M-to-F transsexuals, the faux 'vagina' is essentially a surgically inflicted wound which tries to heal itself. Thus the requirement for daily dilation of the artificial organ and the susceptibility to infections.

Reading what these patients undergo one learns they're often not happy they had the surgeries:

Would parents -usually the 'mommies'- be enthusiastic about helping their young sons to become girls (or girls to become boys) if they knew that courses of hormones are almost guaranteed to cause serious diseases in their children's futures including diabetes, breast cancer, osteoporosis, depression, etc ?

Health providers are encountering more sex change patients. Once the harm has been effected by hormones and surgeries it's too late to do anything but treat. People need to learn more about the medical factors. It's insane that some states have passed legislation to prevent youngsters suffering from gender dysphoria from obtaining psychological therapy.

You use Reddit as 'proof'? Wow, talk about loosing an argument.

You know absolutely nothing but heresay.

No wonder the world is ignorant.

reply

Huh? He simply posted a link from social media to patients talking about what they were going through. Deary me.

reply

Nothing in the post had any semblance to reality, but had plenty to do with Internet fed Ignorance.

The poster made multiple false statements, then provided a link to Reddit in a pathetic attempt to justify the stance.

However nothing but nothing beats real life experience with those affected and only one of us here can state she's been lucky enough to have known a transgender women and learn from her experience.

Well I had no idea about the trauma of daily dilation for two years so I appreciated reading that person's post. I dont care if it wa on reddit, tumblr or anywhere else on social media. It was heartbreaking.

now days the penis is fashioned into the vulva with folds and the tip is folded in and the nerves create clitoris so a trans woman can have an orgasm...most men wouldnt be able to tell if not told

This is how MTF gender reassignment surgery is done.

Remember this was almost 100 years ago, and this was one of the first attempted gender reassignment surgeries ever. That being said, the doctor didn't have a lot of references to work off of.
