Question about a particular scene (Spoilers)

What was the procedure he was going through half way through the movie? I think they said it involved radiation or something like that? What was that supposed to accomplish?😢

Was radiation, to try to kill the female inside she. The doctor says "it destroys the bad and saves the good".

The thinking at that time was that the transgender was disease.

It was a sad scene. He probably would have developed some kind of cancer from that much radiation. I liked the movie very much.

I love how the doctor said they were going to fix him and cure his infertility...and then they shot radiation right at his reproductive organs.
