Theory of Everything is an obvious choice. Redmayne playing a character undergoing physical transformation that his wife is remarkably supportive of. Similar emotional journey too.

Testament of Youth for more Alicia ... that's a harrowing one.

If you're just into British small budget dramas some good ones are Philomena (I believe the same composer did the music for TDG and that, so thematically they felt very similar), The King's Speech (more Tom Hooper), and a recent one I watched on a plane called X+Y (I think it also goes by 'A Brilliant Young Mind' - no idea why it has two titles).

I agree with the previous comment...The Theory of Everything and Testament of Youth are amazing films to watch similar in the vibe of The Danish Girl.

"Tootsie" with Dustin Hoffman (...at least for seeing a man awkwardly try to become a woman in others' eyes).
