Nicole Kidman

I read in an article that Nicole Kidman was about to star as einar/lili and she personally suggested tom hooper to direct and after he decided to direct he basically "fired" (well, not exactly) and chose Eddie Redmayne instead of her! And she couldn't do anything about it! If that's true now I dislike Tom hooper more! He didn't deserve an Oscar for the Kings speech and his work on les miz isn't that astonishing! Luckily fifth bonham carter and Hathaway saved the films !!

This movie's trivia section seems to suggest that. It's a shame if it's true because I think the film would have had a bit of extra weight had Lili been played by a trans woman or if not that, at least a cis woman. Eddie Redmayne's a fantastic actor but I probably would have empathised with Lili more if the femininity hadn't seemed very strange and overexaggerated.

(I quite like The King's Speech, but it's all a matter of personal taste.)

I agree that a trans actor would have been ideal, but there are not many good ones available. Also, a production this big requires strong actors. Personally I think a male actor is a much more believable alternative than a cis woman.

I loved King's Speech, too. I loved this as well but I wouldnt have bothered if Kidman had been cast as Einar/Lili.
