I don't understand how this happened...is this a flaw of the movie?

In the movie, Einar and Gerda are depicted as having a wonderful marriage physically until he tried on that dress. I know nothing about being trans, but I would have thought this knowledge about oneself would come about sooner or more gradually...

Also, Lili likes men, but Kaitlin Jenner likes girls but doesn't consider herself to be a lesbian...It's so confusing. But I guess everyone is an individual and cannot be labeled or categorized...

Not a flaw. Lili was always part of Einar. It was when he finally accepted her that his physical relationship with Gerda failed. That's my take. I dont know about the real life couple, just the movie couple.

I have no idea about your next question. I guess it's up to the individual how they identify their own sexuality.

Yeah I agree with your comments...... And I was sort of annoyed with Lili for never really apologizing to Gerta, who was more than supportive overall. I know that Lili may have lived with surpressed pain all those years (and that she was awakening to a whole new world) but Gerta lost the man she thought her husband to be..... A man who seemed VERY into her both emotionally and sexually before becoming Lili. I was definitely annoyed by that bit of selfishness to not even apologize properly .
