Why so low rating?
It currently has 7,0 on IMDB. I really can't understand why. It has a very interesting true story, magnificent performances, superb representation of the era, and generally it is a wonderful touching film with a subject that we see very rarely on screen. But still, people didn't like it much. And not only the film, but also Redmayne's masterful performance, they say his performance was over the top. Why? He played the role exactly as he should have. He delivered the character's inner struggle flawlessly.
So, why weren't people so enthusiastic with the film?
