Sorry, possibly dumb question...

I think I may have missed this explanation at some point, but I know Brown and Fanny's family were neighbors, but she mentions that when Keats and Brown stayed in Scotland, Keats slept in what used to be "her room", which led me to wonder if Brawne & Brown were somehow related? Or was Brown just a close family friend?

I remember two things very clearly: I am a great sinner and Christ is a great Savior.

Brown rented his rooms from a family who were friends with the Brawne family. Early in the film, the lady of that family, Mrs. Dilke played by the excellent actress Claudie Blakely, encourages them to come meet John Keats. Charles has already been there for a period of time as Fanny already knows and despises him. But at that point, Keats had recently come to join him.

Later, when Charles and Keats are traveling for the summer, the Brawne family stays in those same quarters...perhaps to save on rent, perhaps to be closer to their friends.

Charles Brown was neither a family friend nor a relative of the Brawne family. It was just a coincidence of circumstance that John Keats and Fanny Brawne met.

"I'd never ask you to trust me. It's the cry of a guilty soul."
