Well, this is good news

Janet Patterson, the costume designer for Bright Star as well as The Piano has been invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (the Oscars.)

For the full list of all invitees for this year, go to to the site referenced below, but be prepared for some teeth grinding in frustration. BTW, the Academy lists those invited to join, people don't have to accept and some chose not to. But they never list the existing members names, so if you want to know who's in and who's not, you have to be paying attention. However, in those days before the Internet broadcast this information, it's pretty well a dark mystery.
