Blu-Ray?
Will this film ever be released on blu-ray in US?
Or I should give up waiting and just settle with the french version.

Wouldn't the French Blu-ray have burnt-in subtitles?
If not, I wouldn't wait. This movie was a disaster by U.S. box office standards (as most of the best movies are.)
I would love to have a Blu-ray version of this movie. It's so beautiful and well acted.
I'm curious if you think most of the best movies are big hits outside of the U.S. Not trying to argue, really want to know if you have facts. That would be great to know.
I almost never respond to IMDb comments, because my email notification thing is all screwy.
Anyhow, let me just clear up that: I'm not trying to sound all anti-Amerikan here, but the question was about a potential for Region 1 Blu-ray release, and that would be for the USA exclusively.

Not meant to express "facts" -- only opinion. My opinion is that most good foreign-to-the-U.S.A. movies do not get distribution, in theaters or on video. They are usually near-'invisible' releases, if they're released at all.
Obviously, I don't mean most foreign movies, I mean most ones I like, that I happen to have a hard time seeing in the U.S.A. And naturally, I didn't mean all the good (my subjective definition of good!) films outside the USA were hits elsewhere, and duds in America.
Although that is the case sometimes.
Nice to see others appreciating this wonderful movie.
