I don't think that this would even make it to broadcast today. Really Eurocentric. The father and son get in trouble for going somewhere where they are not supposed to and then expect to be bailed out without any problem. And the people in that country to not do anything to then?

It's different from most girl cartoons in that Poochie is not trying to get a date/married. She is around mostly men. The only other female in this cartoon is the princess. Yes there are a lot of men in this cartoon geared towards girls. Poochie IS successful because she can work in a man's world. Other than her there's not a lot of pink.

I can't figure out why a bunch of 1960's cartoons about a boy with a horse are paired (at least in the VHS release. I guess bc they had space and figured it's also a kid with an animal on an adventure, But the animation style did not work (mid 1960's). It's supposed to be apparently for a little boy.

That could be another reason why this never took off even with Poochie having lots of tie in merchandise. Who were they trying to sell this too/what era?
