I didn't get the ending..

We liked the movie and all but the ending was just a bit uhm, a bit disappointing. I was actually expecting Joshua to be NOT the source of the problem..I was even speculating it was the brother or the grandmother, or better yet, the father himself who has some schizo. But that's just one of the downside of the ending. The worse part is, it was never explained how and when the killings were done, the mysterious abduction/kidnapping and some weird happenings with the baby. It was like, we were left assuming it was Joshua's plot all along. I mean, it really was but I wished there were some flashbacks to show how he did it with some evil faces, etc.

The kid has potential, though. Good thriller if only the ending was done right.

Yeah but imo, it would've been much better had they re-enacted the scenes to show the process of killing, with his devil eyes and evil grin..or something of that sort. And maybe I was just used to watching thrillers with twists that I end up expecting a different culprit aside from the obvious one. They also didn't explain the mysterious room from the attic(??).

"That would have been pointless re-enacting the processes"

It won't be entirely pointless. It will serve as an affirmation of what is otherwise left to our imagination.

"Obvious curlprit? It wasn't a murder mystery."

But its a thriller. Good thrillers have twists(not saying the movie is bad though. Don't get me wrong. I liked it..but not that much)

I know people have different views on films. I said mine, you said yours. To each his own, awesomesauce92 :)

I don't think it leaves anything to assumption. It makes it all perfectly clear what's going on. The premise was not so much what was being done but more about how the kid was just getting away with it. I think you're focusing a little too much on the method and not on the madness.

The only thing I didn't like about the ending was just the fact it was so frustrating to find all the evidence pointing towards a psychotic child when the removalists were packing all the stuff away in the end. The drawings of death which went ignored and the homemade taxidermy on his guinea pig which went unnoticed in particular. That's what was so frustrating to watch not to mention the fact the dad in the least wasn't paying attention to his daughter in the park bashing scene when Joshua uncovered his sister in the pram and made her cry.

Just things that make you say "WTF were you thinking??"

Anyway, that's what I didn't like about the movie but then again, we can't have a happy/satisfying ending in every movie now, can we?

They died because ... it's in the script

Yeah..On my part, I was expecting something that will blow me with surprise. Something or someone that I never thought could've been responsible for the killings.Oh well.

"Just things that make you say "WTF were you thinking??"

Yeah I felt that too in some scenes.

No way, I hate when they do that. It's oftentimes so condescending. It's like someone talking to you purposely slow so you'll understand. "Now that we've spelled it out for you, do you get it, audience?"
